Forest Hills Distillery + Master Plan
This urban distillary design takes the stance against the sprawl that is typical of this typology with three elements: (1) Vertical Factory (2) Floating Rickhouse (3) Park. (1) The sprawling distillary is remixed into a vertical factory. The horizonal production chain is grafted into a tower for a top-down production process to free up space on the site. (2) A rickhouse, an uninsulated storage area taking up nearly half of the site’s square footage, is lifted off the ground by cables, using the tower as an armature for suspension. (3) The two previous operations lend a generous, continuous ground plane. This space becomes a park, address contexual demands for fauna, sports courts, and a place for gathering.
